West Virginia Governor Proposes Eliminating Developmental Disabilities Waiver Program Waitlist
On December 13, 2019, West Virginia Governor Jim Justice proposed eliminating the waitlist for the Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities Waiver (IDDW) program. West Virginia provides home- and community-based services (HCBS) to individuals aged three and older with I/DD through the 1915(c) waiver, IDDW program. Services available through the waiver include facility-based day habilitation, supported employment, skilled nursing, electronic monitoring, and home-based agency person-centered support.
Waiver enrollment is currently capped at 4,634 individuals. As of October 2019, there were 1,084 individuals on the IDDW waitlist, with 214 people added in the last 12 months . . .
