Fitbit & WellCare Georgia Medicaid To Offer Fitbit Devices For Diabetes In 2020
On December 17, 2019, Fitbit and WellCare of Georgia announced a partnership to offer Fitbit Inspire devices to eligible WellCare Medicaid members with a diabetes diagnosis in Georgia who complete their annual diabetic retinal exams (DREs). The goal of this program is to help members adopt healthy behaviors like increased activity, which can help them manage their diabetes. The program went into effect on January 1, 2020. Approximately 4,000 plan enrollees with Type 2 diabetes are eligible to receive a device, as well as educational materials and activity challenges through the Fitbit platform, if they complete their DRE.
