In early January 2020, Magellan announced that its Magellan Complete Care (MCC) subsidiaries in Arizona and Virginia had launched Medicare Advantage dual eligible special needs plans (D-SNPs) for calendar year 2020. The Virginia announcement was on January 2, 2020; the Arizona announcement was on January 7. MCC also operates D-SNPs in Massachusetts and New York. Both operate under its Senior Whole Health brand.

In both states, MCC has an existing Medicaid managed care contract that calls for MCC to launch a D-SNP. The new D-SNPs combine MCC’s expertise in managing physical health, behavioral health, pharmacy . . .
