Approximately 11% of the 7 million homebound 65+ Medicare enrollees during 2011 through 2017 received home-based medical care at their homes. Receipt of home-based medical care was more common in metropolitan areas. Among homebound beneficiaries, receipt of home medical care increased as the beneficiary's ability to leave home decreased, at 17% for beneficiaries who never or rarely left their homes and 14% for beneficiaries who left their homes more often, but always with someone else.
