On July 15, 2020, Brilliant Detroit launched the Detroit Prevention Project, a pilot to prevent child maltreatment by matching 400 at-risk families with peer mentors to provide support and benefits navigators to address the families’ needs for social determinants of health (SDOH). The benefits navigators will be able to connect the families to community resources such as food, housing assistance, education, and employment.
