Medicare To Launch End-Stage Renal Disease Treatment & Choices Model On January 1, 2021
On September 18, 2020, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) announced it has finalized the End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) Treatment Choices (ETC) Model intended to improve or maintain the quality of care and reduce Medicare expenditures for beneficiaries with chronic kidney disease (CKD). The ETC Model goes live on January 1, 2021. The ETC Model supports increased use of home dialysis and kidney transplants. CMS anticipates that over the 5.5-year demonstration, the ETC Model will save Medicare $23 million.
