Georgia Rural Hospital Closes After Financial Problems Worsened By COVID-19
The Southwest Georgia Regional Medical Center (SGRMC), a 25-bed rural community critical access hospital about 160 miles south of Atlanta in Cuthbert, has closed after more than 70 years due to financial problems caused by coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). The restrictions put in place during COVID-19 forced many consumers to delay or cancel elective procedures. SGRMC has secured post-closure storage for all hospital medical records with Cariend, LLC, a medical record storage provider.
