Hawaii Medicaid Awards $62 Million Contract To Incumbent Centene/WellCare For Managed Care Services For People With SMI
On February 10, 2021, the Hawaii Department of Human Services (DHS) awarded a three-year contract valued at $62 million to manage the state’s Medicaid managed Community Care Services (CCS) program to incumbent ‘Ohana Health Plan, a subsidiary of Centene/WellCare. The contract, which covers behavioral health services to more than 5,200 Medicaid-eligible adults with serious mental illness (SMI) or serious and persistent mental illness (SPMI), runs from July 1, 2021, through June 30, 2024, with two optional one-year extensions. Centene/WellCare/Ohana has held the contract since 2013.
