Oregon Expects To Disenroll 200,000 Medicaid Beneficiaries By July 2022
Oregon expects to disenroll approximately 200,000 Medicaid beneficiaries by July 31, 2022. This disenrollment will occur with the projected end of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) health care emergency in January 2022. Under a March 2020 federal emergency law, Medicaid members in most states were allowed to stay on the taxpayer-funded health care insurance, even if their incomes rose above federal limits or they otherwise became ineligible. Because of this law, Oregon temporarily eased Medicaid eligibility and verification checks during COVID-19, which resulted in a 22% increase in Medicaid enrollment since the start of COVID-19 . . .
