On December 14, 2021, Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson announced additional funding for the Arkansas Department of Human Services (DHS) Division of Developmental Disabilities Services (DDS) to eliminate the waitlist for the state’s Community and Employment Supports waiver by June 2025. The $37.6 million in additional funding will create more slots so that all on the developmental disabilities waitlist will be served.

The governor’s plan calls for creating 1,200 additional slots and funding them with existing revenue. The remaining slots needed would be added progressively over the next three years.
