MassHealth Launches A Behavioral Health Urgent Care Program
On January 1, 2022, the Massachusetts Medicaid program (MassHealth) launched a new behavioral health urgent care program. The services are intended for Medicaid beneficiaries who are experiencing changes in changes in behavior or thinking, role dysfunction, emerging intent of self-injury, or threats to others due to a mental health or addiction disorder. The services are not intended for beneficiaries at immediate risk of harm to self or others. The behavioral health urgent care provider organizations are mental health centers.
