On January 1, 2022, the Louisiana Department of Health (LDH) began accepting applications for the new Act 421 Children’s Medicaid Option (CMO), that allows certain children under 19 years of age with disabilities to receive Medicaid coverage, regardless of parental income. The option allows these children to qualify for Medicaid home- and community-based services (HCBS). The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) approved this Louisiana’s state plan amendment to add this new option.
