HHS Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology: Temporary EHR Certification Program; Notice of Extension

November 3, 2011 The Office of the National Coordinator (ONC) for Health Information Technology of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services extended the temporary Certification Program for electronic health record technology until ONC determines that a sufficient number of technology accreditation organizations have been selected. The delay will also enable ONC to launch the permanent EHR Technology certification program at the same time that Stage 2 criteria are released for the Medicare and Medicaid EHR Meaningful Use Incentive Program.
