Los Angeles City Agrees To Shelter 14,000 Individuals To Settle Homelessness Crisis Lawsuit

On April 1, 2022, the City of Los Angeles agreed to a legal settlement in which the city will shelter or house from 14,000 to 16,000 homeless people within five years. The settlement is with the city, not the county, and only applies to the “Skid Row” area of the city, officially known as Central City East, covering fifty city blocks (2.71 square miles) immediately east of downtown Los Angeles.
