Missouri Launches Apprenticeship Program To Train New Direct Support Professionals For People With I/DD
On April 4, 2022, the Missouri Department of Mental Health (DMH) established a registered apprenticeship program, Missouri Talent Pathways (MO-TaP), to train new direct support professionals (DSPs) who will work with people with intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD). The MO-TaP program has been approved by the U.S. Department of Labor. As a registered apprenticeship with the U.S. Department of Labor, MO-TaP blends on-the-job instruction with related technical training to access an expanded talent pool and standardize quality training.
