Florida Medicaid Proposed Coverage Limits Sites Where Children With Autism Can Receive ABA
In March 2022, the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA), which administers the Medicaid program, proposed rule changes to applied behavior analysis (ABA) services for children with autism that would limit the types of locations where ABA could be delivered. In particular, under the proposed rule, Medicaid would not reimburse for ABA services provided at recreational, leisure, or educational camps or during extracurricular activities, even if the purpose is to help children with autism participate in the activities.
