New Mexico Exits Jackson I/DD Lawsuit

On April 27, 2022, a federal District Court judge granted New Mexico’s motion to dismiss a lawsuit filed in 1987 over the state’s services for people with intellectual/developmental disability (I/DD). The final U.S. District Court order recognizes the state's establishment of a community-based system that protects the health and safety of residents with I/DD. The state has not only remedied the original violations, but has established and maintained a successful community-based system.
