25% Of Medicare MSSP ACOs Have Home Visit Programs, More Are Interested But Concerned About Financial Risks
Approximately 25% of Medicare Shared Savings Program (MSSP) accountable care organizations (ACOs) had formal home-based care programs according to a survey conducted in late 2019. Another 25% of MSSP ACOs offered occasional home visits, and 17% were actively developing home-based care programs. About half of the existing programs had been established within the past three years. About 75% of the ACOs responding to the survey expressed interest in expanding home care services, but were concerned about sustainability due to gaps in Medicare coverage of home care services.
