89% Of Education Technology Products Harvest Student Data For Purposes Unrelated To Education

A majority of online remote learning platforms and education technology (EdTech) apps violate student data privacy. Of 163 products used in 49 countries,146 (89%) of the platforms and products appeared to engage in data practices that put children’s rights at risk, contributed to undermining children’s rights to privacy, or actively infringed on these rights.
