Cone Health and Guilford County Government opened a new 16-bed Behavioral Health Urgent Care (BHUC) in Greensboro, North Carolina. Behavioral health and emergency medical services will be provided by Cone Health hospitals.
The BHUC will provide acute behavioral health care 24 hours a day 7 days a week for both adults and adolescents. In addition to the urgent care beds, the facility also includes an onsite pharmacy, outpatient services, and peer counseling rooms.
The BHUC is the first of two behavioral health urgent care facilities involving Cone Health scheduled to open in 2021. The second facility is a 16-bed crisis center for children, which will offer extended stay care for adolescents. It is scheduled to open later in the summer of 2021.
Cone Health is a not-for-profit health care network serving people in Alamance, Forsyth, Guilford, Randolph, Rockingham and surrounding counties in North Carolina. Since 2017, Cone Health has been working with Guilford County Government and with Sandhills Center, the local management entity managing public behavioral health services in the county. The work has focused on developing crisis support services for both adults and adolescents.
