Calais Regional Hospital (CRH) in Maine announced that Down East Community Hospital (DECH) in Machias, Maine filed a motion with the Chapter 11 Bankruptcy Court and the Creditors Committee to purchase the assets of CRH. DECH seeks to reach an agreement before March 31, 2021. The hospital will be renamed Calais Community Hospital.

The CRH Board of Directors generally supports the DECH draft plan. However, several details remain to be settled. The motion states that DECH’s intent is to operate the hospital as a critical access hospital providing substantially the similar services as those provided by CRH.
