The medical house call start up, Heal, has expanded its service area to include Illinois, Louisiana, North Carolina, and South Carolina. This expansion is due to a strategic partnership with Humana announced in July 2020. Humana invested $100 million in Heal. Under the terms of the partnership, Humana and Heal intended to expand Heal’s service area to provide primary care via virtual and in-home encounters to Humana members in new geographic markets such as Chicago, Illinois, and Charlotte, South Carolina as part of Humana’s Bold Goal initiative to create solutions to address health-related social needs for its members and communities.
Heal provides physician house calls, using technology to re-humanize the practice of medicine and deliver better outcomes for consumers. The service is currently available throughout California’s major metropolitan centers; Atlanta, Georgia; Virginia, Maryland, and Washington D.C.; New Jersey; New York; and Seattle and Spokane in Washington State. Heal has over 100 major corporate clients and is covered as an in-network benefit with Aetna, Anthem Blue Cross, Blue Shield of California, CareFirst, Cigna, Health Net, Medicare, and United Healthcare. The expanded service area brings Heal’s in-home services to 134 million people.
