Mercy Health and Saint Joseph Mercy Health System will temporarily furlough 2,500 employees — most of whom are non-clinical workers — at eight hospitals across the state. The two health systems, which comprise the Michigan region of Trinity Health, announced the furloughs Wednesday, April 1. In addition to the furloughs, compensation for executive leaders at the health system is being cut by up to 25%, and all performance-based incentives are being eliminated.

The furloughs will occur over the next few weeks and enable the health care system to focus resources more directly on consumer care related to COVID-19 . . .
