The government of Linn County, Iowa, opened a Sobering Unit at its Mental Health Access Center. The unit is for intoxicated individuals who would otherwise have been held in jails or emergency departments. The Mental Health Access Center is open to those 18 years or older experiencing a mental health or addiction crisis. The Center is open from Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Crisis triage services is provided by Foundation 2 Crisis Triage counselors.
