The St. Lawrence County Community Services Board in New York approved a proposal by Citizen Advocates LLC to open a behavioral health urgent care center in Ogdensburg. The center will provide 24/7 urgent care for mental health and addiction disorder, and will help consumers connect to services to provide support such as counseling, housing, transportation services, or employment training. Citizen Advocates anticipates opening the center by the end of 2021.
The treatment team at the center will include a supervising physician, advance practice clinical professionals, registered nurses, therapists, targeted case managers, peer specialists, and consumer support. The case managers will connect consumers with additional community-based services. The peer specialists are specially trained counselors who often have lived experience with a mental health or addiction diagnosis, or both.
