SummitStone Health Partners opened a 16-bed inpatient behavioral health facility in Larimer County, Colorado, called Garcia House, A Circle Program by SummitStone. Garcia House provides residential treatment for adults with co-occurring mental health and addiction disorder. Length of stay of up to 90 days will be determined by medical necessity; the program provides intensive support post discharge.
Colorado’s Circle Programs, with guidance and funding from the Department of Human Services, provide medically monitored residential addiction treatment level of care for individuals with co-occurring mental health diagnoses. This is the highest level of care available short of hospitalization. Garcia House is SummitStone Health Partners’ third Circle Program in the state.
SummitStone Health Partners is the not-for-profit behavioral health provider organization for Northern Colorado and Larimer County. Since 1957, SummitStone’s mission has been to provide mental health and addiction prevention, intervention, and treatment services. SummitStone now serves more than 10,000 community members across Larimer County annually. Its service line includes a behavioral health urgent care and a crisis stabilization unit.
Garcia House is named in honor of Fred W. Garcia, a member of the SummitStone Health Partners board of directors since 2013 and a founding member of Larimer Latinos. Mr. Garcia dedicated his career to ending the stigma surrounding addiction as an advocate, and by promoting policy improvements and changes at the local, state and federal levels. He has more than 40 years of experience in chemical dependency and mental health treatment and prevention. He has served as chief programs officer for the state alcohol and drug authorities in both Colorado and Washington state. Mr. Garcia was appointed by President Bill Clinton and approved by the U.S. Senate to serve as Deputy Director of the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy. He also served under Attorney General Janet Reno as a liaison between the drug treatment system and law enforcement.
