The Precisionists, Inc. (TPI) opened an Innovation & Technology Center (ITC) in Phoenix, Arizona to support employment for hundreds of local adults with autism and other neurodiversities over the next three to five years. The ITC opened two years after TPI launched the “Phoenix Precision Project” in February 2019 in in collaboration with Governor Doug Ducey, Salt River Project (SRP), the Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce, the Greater Phoenix Economic Council (GPEC), and First Place® AZ, a non-profit real estate and community developer that recruited TPI.
At the ITC, TPI performs both project-based work for its client partners, and TPI assesses, trains, and prepares candidates for employment with TPI. The ITC’s office space is located at 4646 Van Buren Street, Suite 185, Phoenix, AZ 85008. The office is convenient to public transportation, and is located in a professional office complex that can accommodate TPI’s additional space needs as it continues to grow to reach its goal of creating more than 500 jobs for adults with autism. It has already created over 50 jobs in Arizona.
First Place AZ in Phoenix provides housing and independent living skills for adults with autism. Several First Place-Phoenix resident and former Transition Academy students have been hired by TPI for full time work. SRP a charter member of the Phoenix Precision Project, has been utilizing The Precisionists’ innovative disability employment model in a number of areas, including information technology and administrative services. SRP’s Records Management Project is the first to be conducted the new ITC.
TPI was founded in 2018. It assesses, trains, and employs neurodiverse adults to carry out project-based work, including software development, software testing, database analytics, cybersecurity, back-office accounting, data entry and auditing reports. Workers trained by TPI can work on-site at the client’s location; in the three cities where TPI has an ITC, clients can also choose to have the work conducted in TPI’s environment. It also operates ITCs in Wilmington, Delaware; and in Nashville, Tennessee. During 2020, TPI grew by more than 30%. As of May 2021, TPI has trained and hired more than 10,000 people with autism spectrum disorder.
