Leaders Are Responsible For Their Own Morale

Greetings from Gettysburg! Today, we kicked off the first annual retreat for the Child Welfare League of America (CWLA) Leadership Development Institute. The retreat has focused my recent attention on the issue of leadership. And in my readings, one statement in particular caught my eye – "Leaders are responsible for their own morale."
This was the perspective of Admiral Thad Allen, in "You Have to Lead from Everywhere" in a recent issue of Harvard Business Review. You may remember Admiral Allen as the leader who directed the federal response to Hurricanes Katrina and Rita in the Gulf . . .
