This past week, two headlines caught my attention. First, the acquisition of Amedisys by Optum (see Optum To Buy Amedisys In All-Cash Deal Valued At Over $3 Billion). The other, the expansion of home care companies into behavioral health (see Behavioral Healthcare Moving Into The Home).
Optum offered an all-cash deal for $3.26 billion ($100 per share) to buy Amedisys, a Louisiana-based provider of home health, hospice, and higher-acuity home care services across 522 locations in 37 states and the District of Columbia.
