How Do States Manage The Sex Offender Population?
At one of our recent OPEN MINDS institutes, there was a great session about managing the criminal justice population once they re-enter the community – see Serving The Criminal Justice Population: Reentry & Community Mental Health Programs. During the session, there was a lot of discussion about housing and sex offenders – specifically, the restrictions on housing location for individuals on the sex offender registry lists. (I was also shocked to learn that in some states, sex workers are considered sex offenders and subject to the same restrictions.)
