Medicaid Long-Term Services & Supports—Now & Beyond The Crisis
As of 2020, there are approximately 2.7 million individuals—3.8% of the total Medicaid population and 28% of the Medicaid long-term services and supports (LTSS) population—enrolled in Medicaid managed care models for LTSS (MLTSS) nationwide. This represents a 43% increase from 2016, when MLTSS was 1.9 million. Over this time, the number of states participating stayed the same, at 22 states.
