Ohio & Illinois The Latest To Link Child Welfare System & Managed Care
In the last few months, we have seen two more state Medicaid plans add children in the child welfare system to the list of populations that will be served using managed care. In January, all new children entering foster care or eligible for adoption assistance in Ohio were enrolled in mandatory Medicaid managed care (see Ohio Medicaid Moving Children In Foster Care To Managed Care). And in April, the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services notified provider organizations that beginning January 1, 2018, the state’s latest Medicaid managed care contracts will expand managed care to include special needs . . .
