The Ticking Clock
In the health and human service field, there is a ticking clock. With the aging of the population and other yet unknown environmental factors, the number of Americans with Alzheimer’s disease is on the increase—with almost seven million Americans affected now (see 6.7 Million Americans Have Alzheimer’s Dementia, By 2050 Nearly 13 Million Will Be Affected).
Alzheimer’s is growing as a cause of death in the U.S. (see 2023 Alzheimer’s Disease Facts And Figures). And until recently there was little in the way of treatment for the disease.
