Last month, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Autism Collaboration, Accountability, Research, Education, and Support (CARES) Act of 2024 (see;H.R.7213 – Autism CARES Act Of 2024) which builds on the achievements of the;Autism CARES Act Of 2019.;The 2024 act authorizes $2 billion (an increase of $279 million) in funding over the next five years to improve autism spectrum disorder (ASD) research, data collection, and training.;
The legislation opens the door for evaluation of new types of autism treatment. It reads “The Director shall provide means to…develop and evaluate evidence . . .
