CMS Approves Kansas Medicaid Waiver To Shift All Populations To Managed Care
On December 7, 2012, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) approved Kansas’ KanCare Medicaid 1115 waiver, which moves all Medicaid beneficiaries to managed care; enrollment will be mandatory for all Medicaid populations, including Medicaid-eligible children and pregnant women, CHIP eligible children, low income adults, and persons with disabilities. The KanCare program approval was effective January 1, 2013. However, non-medical home- and community-based services (HCBS) for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) will be temporarily carved-out from Medicaid managed care and provided on a fee-for-service basis until CMS approves additional amendments . . .
