January 8, 2001 Department of Transportation Releases New Drug Testing Rules On December 19, 2000, the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) announced new drug testing rules which go into affect August 1, 2001, and aim to protect the rights of workers who are mandated to undergo drug testing.
