January 29, 2007 In 2000, Nearly Half of Youth Hospitalized for Substance Abuse Disorders May Not Have Received Substance Abuse Treatment In 2000, over 50% of medical claims of youth between the ages of 12 and 17 who were admitted to a hospital for alcohol-related mental disorders and substance-related mental disorders had no documentation of treatment specific to substance abuse behavior.
