High Scores on Patient Care = High Profitability For Hospitals

Hospitals with high performance scores in patient care on the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) are more profitable than those hospitals with low patient care scores. The top 25% percent of U.S. hospitals with the highest scores on the HCAHPS question about patient satisfaction were, on average, the most profitable and also had the highest clinical scores. The researchers concluded that high quality patient experience and clinical outcomes can lead to financial profitability for the institution.
