Aetna & Sharp Community Medical Group Launch ACO in California
On December 14, 2011, health insurance company Aetna and Sharp Community Medical Group (SCMG), an independent physician group in San Diego, California, announced plans to launch an accountable care organization (ACO) for Aetna members in San Diego. Aetna members in commercial preferred provider organization (PPO) plans who seek care from SCMG physicians will be automatically enrolled in the ACO.
