CMS Releases Modifications to HCPCS Code Set—Drug Screening, Tobacco Cessation Counseling Included
Share The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) released modifications to the Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS) on January 1, 2011. Codes for drug screening were revised and new codes were released for tobacco cessation counseling and Medicare wellness visits were included. The new codes for Medicare wellness visits are a result of changes stemming from the health reform legislation, which allows for more preventative services for people with traditional fee-for-service Medicare.
