Wikipedia is the single leading source of medical information for patients and health care professionals, according to research by the IMS Institute for Healthcare Informatics. During 2013, the top 100 English Wikipedia pages for health care topics were accessed an average of 1.9 million times. Pages about rare conditions showed a higher visit frequency than pages for common conditions.
