February 18, 2002 DHHS Approves Utah Medicaid Waiver to Extend Health Services Utah's Medicaid demonstration waiver will expand benefits for primary care and preventive services to about 25,000 residents who otherwise would not have access to health coverage. Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Secretary Tommy G. Thompson approved the waiver on February 11, 2002.
