February 19, 2001 Michigan's Oakland County Mental Health Authority Outsources Direct Services The Oakland County Community Mental Health Authority (OCCMHA) in Pontiac, Michigan recently went through a restructuring process, which involved redesigning the organization to move away from traditional managed care practices to more appropriate strategies as a manager of public policy. Effective October 1, 2000, the OCCMHA no longer handles direct services and only manages supportive services, said Richard Visingardi, Executive Director. In the spring of 2000, the OCCMHA board had made the decision to privatize services, and contracts were negotiated with two agencies, Easter Seals and Macomb . . .
