Pharmaceutical Companies Using More IT to Connect With Consumers
In 2010, pharmaceutical companies increased the number of information technology (IT) initiatives to improve patient health by 78% compared to the previous four years. From 2005 to 2009, pharmaceutical companies launched a total of 124 information technology projects, but in 2010 alone, they launched 97 projects. About 41% of the 2010 projects were applications for smartphones. These were the findings of a report, titled “Global Pharmaceutical Industry Report 2011; Progressions, Building Pharma 3.0,” by the Ernst & Young Global Life Sciences Center.
