Non-Profit Hospital’s Median Community Benefit Spending Was Six Percent in 2006

OPEN MINDS Weekly News Wire Strategic Health Care News An Internal Revenue Service (IRS) survey on community benefit claimed by non-profit hospitals found that the average community benefit expenditure was nine percent of revenues, and the median was six percent of revenues. Community benefit included uncompensated care, research, medical training, and community programs. Community benefit expenditures were lowest for rural hospitals.
