New TBI Affects Nearly 1.4 Million Annually
OPEN MINDS Weekly News Wire Intellectual & Developmental Disability Services According to the Brain Injury Association of America (BIAA) nearly 1.4 million people experience traumatic brain injuries (TBI) each year through falls, traffic accidents, sports, and other activities. Currently, 3.17 million people in the United States have a long-term or lifelong need for help with their activities of daily living as a result of TBI. The BIAA is monitoring health care policy reform to ensure that TBI care is included. Susan H.
