March 27, 2006 Two Pennsylvania Counties Launching Peer Support Service The Franklin and Fulton County Mental Health and Mental Retardation administrative office in Pennsylvania has launched a peer-support program for mental health patients. Interested individuals who have personal experience with the mental health system will be trained and certified as peer counselors. The program will be based on a Montgomery County, Pennsylvania program that involves 200 peer counselors. The program is spearheaded by Gina Calhoun, who will conduct the training.
