April 3, 2000 Oregon Supreme Court Upholds Open Access to Birth Records A lower court decision upholding the nation’s only voter-passed law allowing adult adoptees access to their birth records was upheld when the Oregon Supreme Court declined to review the lower court ruling on March 21, 2000. The law will allow adoptees over 21 to have access to their birth certificates, which may contain their birth parents’ names.
