5.2 Million Americans Have Alzheimers Disease
OPEN MINDS On-Line News Senior Support Services In 2008, 5.2 million Americans are estimated to have Alzheimers diseases; on average, this equates to one in eight individuals age 65 and older (13%). There were 411,000 new cases of Alzheimers in 2000, and by 2010 there will be 454,000 new cases annually. The number of people aged 65 and older is estimated to reach 7.7 million individuals by 2030 and by 2050 the number could be as high as 16 million.
