Walgreens To Transmit Immunization & Clinic Records To PCPs Via Surescripts Service

On March 12, 2012, Walgreens announced plans use Surescripts' Clinical Interoperability services to electronically deliver patient immunization and clinic records to primary care physicians. Over the coming months, the new immunization record sharing service will be offered to patients by all 7,830 Walgreens and Duane Reade pharmacies, and by 350 Take Care Clinics. Later in 2012, Walgreens will expand its use of the Surescripts network to provide immunization reporting to state and local public health agencies, and Take Care Clinic patient summaries to the patient's primary care provider.
